Senate Introduces New Bills, Passes Bill Through Committees

Today the Senate met at 11 a.m.

Senate Bills 255-269 were introduced, along with Senate Resolution 6.

Also announced today, Senate Bill 130 was moved from the Senate Education Committee to the Senate Finance Committee. SB130, known as the Tim Tebow Act, will allow students enrolled in private schools or home schooled to participate in athletics or other extracurricular activities at schools that are part of the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission.

The Senate is adjorned until Monday at 11 a.m.

House Meets in Third Day of Session

The House of Delegates met for a third time before adjourning for the weekend.

The House has introduced several bills this session.

The House heard from Delegate Pat McGeehan and Delegate Jim Butler on their appreciation for the state of West Virginia. Delegate Butler's wife sang "God Bless the U.S.A."

The Judiciary committee will resume its work this afternoon at 1 p.m. in 410M.

The House is adjourned until 11 a.m. Monday.

Senate Introduces Bills, Honors Two Distinguished Community Members

The Senate convened today at 11 a.m and introduced Senate Bills 153-254.

The Senate adopted two resolutions today. Senate Resolution 4 honored the life of Dr. Harry Warren Boggs, and Senate Resolution 5 recognized Anne Palmer for her public service.

The Senate will reconvene tomorrow at 11 a.m.

House Convenes for Second Day of Regular Session

The House of Delegates met for the second time during the second session of the 83rd Legislature.

Members made introductions and heard from Del. Mike Pushkin in a floor speech.

The House introduced bills 4020-4032.

House Finance at 2 p.m. in 460M

House Health at 2 p.m. in 215E

Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention at 3:30 p.m. in 215E

Finance at 9 a.m. in 460M

Jeffrey Pack Sworn in as New Delegate

Jeffrey Pack, an Operations Manager from Cool Ridge, WV  was sworn in today by House Speaker Tim Armstead following his appointment by Governor Justice to the seat vacated by the resignation of John O'Neal IV.

Delegate Pack was accompanied by his wife Shanna and his two daughters, Madison, 9, and Briella, 6 during the swearing in ceremony in the House Chambers.

Delegate Pack represents the 28th Delegate District in Raleigh County and previously served as a Herndon Intern in the House Minority Office under Jeff Billings.

Senate Convenes Regular Session, Introduces 151 Bills

The Senate convened the Second Regular Session of the 83rd Legislature today at Noon.

The body introduced and read 151 bills a first time, of those, Senate Bill 39, would create the Sexual Assault Victims Bill of Rights. Also, Senate Bill 58, would give certain state retirees a cost of living raise.

The Senate is in recess until 6:45 p.m.

The following committees will meet this afternoon:

Finance 3 p.m. 451M

Judiciary 3 p.m. 208W

Pension and Retirement 2 p.m. 451M

Economic Development 1 p.m. 208W


The Senate reconvened briefly following the State of the State Address to introduce the Budget Bill.

The Senate will reconvene tomorrow at 11 a.m.

Finance will meet tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in 451M

House Hears from Gov. Justice During State of the State 2018

The House convened in its second session of the 83rd Legislature.

The House reintroduced carry-over bills from the first session. The House introduced several resolutions.

The House is in recess until 6:50 p.m., before Gov. Justice gives his State of the State Address.

House Judiciary meets today at 2 p.m. in 410M.



The House convened briefly and then recessed to hear from Gov. Jim Justice on his State of the State.

The House introduced the Budget Bill and adjourned until 11 a.m. tomorrow.
