CHARLESTON – Senate President Mitch Carmichael, R-Jackson, today announced that Senator Kenny Mann, R-Monroe, has been named Vice Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee for the 84th Legislature, which begins January 9, 2019.
Senator Mann was elected to the Senate in 2016. He is currently the Chairman of the Education Committee and the Vice Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee and is a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development, Banking and Insurance, Economic Development, Energy, Industry and Mining, and Finance committees.
“There are few people I can think of who are as qualified to serve in this critical role in one of the Senate’s most important committees,” Senate President Carmichael said. “It takes a person with a business sense, with an understanding of government, and an ability to work with all types of people to get things done. As a small business owner, he knows all of this and more. I am so excited to watch how Senator Mann will thrive in this new role and the benefits it will bring to the Finance Committee and to the people of West Virginia.”
Senator Mann is a graduate of Concord University and the Mid-America College of Funeral Service. He is a former member of the Monroe County Board of Education and is the president of the Ballard Volunteer Fire Department. He is the owner and licensee in charge of Groves-Mann Funeral Home Inc., in Union.
“I’m looking forward to this new challenge and new phase of my service in the Senate,” Senator Mann said. “There is so much good work that comes out of our Finance Committee, and I’m excited to be able to help drive its agenda more than I had in the past. Putting together the state’s budget every year is a huge task, and I’m grateful that Senate President Carmichael put his trust in me to help Chairman Blair do this job.”
Senator Mann represents the Tenth Senatorial District, which includes Fayette, Greenbrier, Monroe, and Summers counties.
